How to Integrate with Yardi (RentCafe API v2)

Step-by-step guide to connecting Yardi RentCafe with Clay by generating a vendor token and sharing property mapping for seamless data integration.

This guide walks you through how to connect your Yardi RentCafe account with Clay using the RentCafe API v2.

The process is simple and typically takes just a few minutes. No plugins or additional setup are required on your end—Clay is already available as an approved vendor in RentCafe.

Overview

To complete the integration, your team will:

  1. Generate a Vendor API Token in Yardi Site Manager
  1. Share the token with Clay
  1. Export and provide property mapping (Property IDs)

Once these steps are complete, Clay can securely connect to your Yardi environment.

Step 1: Generate a Vendor Token in Yardi

In Yardi RentCafe, navigate to:

Site Manager → Settings → API Settings → Add Vendor Token

Then complete the following:

  • Vendor Type: RentCafe API V2
  • Vendor Name: Clay (or your approved vendor name)
  • Click Save

This will generate your unique API token.

👉 As shown in the setup screen, the token is created immediately after saving and appears in your Vendor API Settings table

Step 2: Share the Token with Clay

Once the token is generated:

  • Copy the token from the API Settings page
  • Send it securely to your Clay onboarding or support contact

This token allows Clay to authenticate and interact with your RentCafe environment.

Step 3: Export Property Mapping

To complete the integration, you’ll also need to provide property IDs.

In the same API Settings section:

  • Click “Export Property Information”
  • Download the file
  • Share it with Clay

This file contains the property mapping required for API requests (e.g., syncing units, availability, and data).

👉 The export option is available directly on the API Settings page alongside your token

Important Notes

  • No plugin installation required RentCafe is a multi-tenant system, so Clay is already available as an approved vendor across all eligible clients
  • One-time setup per client Once the token is generated and shared, the integration can be configured on Clay’s side
  • Secure access The API token is unique to your account—treat it like a password and share it only with trusted contacts

What Happens Next?

After you provide:

  • Vendor Token
  • Property Mapping

Clay will:

  • Connect to your Yardi environment
  • Map your properties and units
  • Begin syncing relevant data (e.g., availability, prospects, and insights)
